Southern white admiral - Limenitis reducta
![]() |
Family: Nymphalidae Flight Time: June - August Size: 46-54mm Altitude: 0-1650m |

Notes: I found a small colony of these beauties on Ile aux Moines in the Golfe de Morbihan. They are comparatively rare in NW France so I was most pleased. Differences with the usual White admiral, Limenitis camilla, are twofold, firstly the is an extra white spot in cell in L. Reducta on the upperside, and the underside has just one row of black spots on the hindwing. The base colour is slightly redder too. |
