Large skipper - Ochlodes venatus
![]() |
Family: Hesperiidae. Flight Time: June-August Size: 28-34mm Altitude: 0-1800m |
| This is a common Summer species in the UK. Fast buzzing flight and a
penchant for 'bombing' other species that pass through its territory are characteristic. Possible confusion with Small skipper Thymelicus sylvestris and Essex skipper Thymelicus lineola unlikely due to chequered marks and larger size. |
